14 YEARS IN A ROW FOR SOUTHPORTS JUNIOR TEAM

At the last Echo Cup Final ever as the COOP are taking the sponsorship over of one of the most exciting galas of the year, for the Junior swimmers. Southport came out on top yet again, for the 14th year in succession. With the top eight junior teams in Merseyside taking part. The parade came first with hats, banners, flags, horns, drums and face paint. After the warm up the races started. The first 8 events being team races and after 10 races Southport had a commanding 18 point lead over second place Halton. The Indivdual swims where dominated by Southport, in most getting a top 3 place. The points kept accumulating for Southport as they pulled away with the second, third and forth place changing with every race. The 49 event gala was concluded by the cannon, one swimmer boy and girl in each age group, which Southport won to retain the Cannon trophy. The final result was read out and a commanding victory for Southport yet again.

Result – Southport 330, Everton 251, Halton 238, Ormskirk 219, Prescot & Hoylake 192 Crosby 191 and Liverpool Penguins 136
